Turanganui Schools' Maori Cultural Festival

More than $3000 was made available to the Turanganui a kiwa Schools' Maori Cultural Festival, held in November 2008.
The money helped fund much needed resources for the event, which has experienced growing interest over the past few years. Festival spokesperson Rick Paenga said costs associated with running the festival had doubled over the past three years putting pressure on sponsors and the festival committee.
"The money given by ECT was used to pay for resources we would have otherwise had to pay for ourselves. It is brilliant that local organisations support each other." The festival ran for three days, replacing the previous two-day format, and was more popular than ever.
